Prerequisites
- Advanced Open Water or higher
- minimum 18 years old
- In good health and fitness. Normal health and good fitness is important
- 100 or more logged dives.
Getting Wet - All About Your Dives
The Solo course standard is for two dives. At Frontier Tech Divers we prefer to teach the course as a three dive course. More fun, extra practice and the last dive will be truly solo
All dives are no-deco within the limits of your current training. On every dive you will be practising skills to develop you as a diver and fine tune your current skills
The first dives is a skills dive. You’ll be practicing in shallow water and we include more skills than the course outline.
- Buoyancy and trim – helicopter turns
- No air swim 15m
- No mask swim
- Out of air – bail out
- Out of air – gas sharing ! What’s this? Yes, we are training you to be a better buddy too !
- SMB deployment from depth
- Deep stops and extended safety stops
The second dive applies your skills on a wall dive in Bohol. You will have a chance to tour so bring your camera. The third dive will be a solo dive. We follow on the surface and will give you a final bail-out, but other than that you are alone to explore.
Carry redundant gas – many divers combine the course with Sidemount training
Schedule
Most divers can complete the SDI Solo Diver course in two full days. Consider combining with TDI Intro to Tech and use tech gear and twin tanks or TDI Sidemount diver and get certified as a sidemount diver at the same time.
In the classroom we will give practical examples of how to apply what you have learned on your eLearning. Emphasis is on good judgment and planning. At the end of the day it is your skills, your decisions that will affect your dives and safety

Solo diving requires a redundant air source. Combine the course with SDI Sidemount diver or TDI Intro To Tech and learn to use sidemount or twin tanks at the same time. The combined courses both take four days.
