Tech Instructor training is lead by Rick Kirkham. A technical diver for more than 25 years, he is the only Course Director – Instructor Trainer in the Philippines. Meaning, he can train Course Directors as well as Instructors.
Frontier Tech Divers is the only full service technical diving service in Bohol. We offer both diver and instructor level training from TDI Intro to Tech up to TDI Advanced Trimix Diver and SDI Course Director.

Here’s what we will bring to your TDI Instructor Course
- No Shortcuts – we teach the course as it is meant to be taught. You’ll be doing more than the course minimum
- A chance to practice your skills – we’ll develop you to demonstration quality
- Tips on how to teach theory. You’ll be evaluated on teaching several classroom sessions
- Real world dive planning – how to teach and mentor your students
- Course flow – how to adapt the tech course to students with different abilities.
Our TDI instructor courses are designed to exceed course minimums. That means that you be doing more dives as well as more classroom evaluations
We believe that the best instructors benefit from realistic training. You’ll be working with either simulated students, or real students. If you are flexible with dates it is always better to come here when we have students at that training level for you to work with
Certification is not guaranteed. You must come with the right experience and attitude. Occasionally we find that new instructors benefit from more training. In that case extra training dives must be purchased. For us this is not a money making opportunity – we just want you to leave here as being the best instructor possible
Remember the more that we put into the course, the more we get out. Come prepared. Practice all your skills to demonstration quality and study the diver level materials and exams
TDI INSTRUCTOR COURSES
Course fees include air fills, boat dives, digital instructor guides and instruction. Not included are O2 and Helium fills and registration/instructor upgrades paid directly to TDI, or expenses when conducting wreck courses in Subic Bay

Prerequisites
- For SDI instructor must be an active recreational instructor with another agency with no QA
- For TDI Instructor – you can cross your technical instructor ratings up to TDI Extended Range instructor, as long as you would have met our course prerequisites for our instructor ratings
- For Trimix instructor ratings – minimum teaching experience applies and you must complete an instructor evaluation. Contact us for more information
- CCR and cave ratings – we cannot currently evaluate crossover candidates for these ratings

Prerequisites
1. Certified as an SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor, or equivalent
2. Certified as a Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures diver, or equivalent

1. Minimum age 18
2. Minimum certification as an SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor or the

4. Provide proof of 150 logged dives – 25 must be nitrox dives
5. Have certified 10 students in SDI Deep Diver or 10 SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent
6. Have certified 10 students as SDI/TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent

Student Prerequisites
1. Minimum age 2l
2. Certified as a TDI Trimix Diver or equivalent
3. Minimum certification of TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor or equivalent (unless Advanced Nitrox Instructor course is taught in conjunction with Helitrox Instructor course)
4. Proof of 10 certified Advanced Nitrox or Deep or Advanced Adventure divers or equivalent
5. Provide proof of 250 logged dives with a minimum of 20 logged Helitrox or Trimix decompression dives outside of training, 10 of these dives must be in the last 12 months

Student Prerequisites
1. Minimum age 21
2. Provide proof of 250 logged dives, 25 must be extended range dives
3. Certification as a TDI Extended Range Diver or equivalent
4. Certification as a TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures
Instructor or equivalent
5. Must have certified 10 students in advanced nitrox diver or
decompression procedures diver, a minimum of 5 must be
decompression procedures divers

Prerequisites
1. Minimum age 2l
2. Minimum certification as a TDI Trimix Diver and a TDI Advanced Nitrox and
Decompression Procedures Instructor, or equivalent
3. Proof of 15 certified advanced nitrox or decompression procedures divers;
minimum of 10 must be decompression procedures divers
4. Provide proof of 250 logged dives with a minimum of 20 logged Trimix dives
outside of training, 10 of these dives must be in the last 12 monthsPeso

Duration – seven to eight days
Prerequisites
1. Minimum age 21
2. Certification as a TDI Advanced Trimix Diver or equivalent
3. Certification as a TDI Extended Range Instructor or TDI Trimix Instructor or
equivalent
4. Provide proof of 250 logged dives, of which 30 must be Trimix dives
5. Provide proof of 20 dives deeper than 55 metres / 180 feet
And meet one of the following experience requirements:
1. Certify at least 10 extended range divers or Trimix divers to depths of at least
45 metres / 150 feet
2. Assist with at least 2 complete TDI Advanced Trimix classes taught
by an active TDI Advanced Trimix Instructor and provide a letter of
recommendation from the assisted instructor(s)

Duration – five days, at least nine dives
Student Prerequisites
1. Minimum age 21
2. Certified as a TDI Advanced Wreck Diver or equivalent
3. Certified as a TDI ANDP Instructor or equivalent
4. Provide proof of 200 logged dives, at least 50 must be wreck dives, 25
must be wreck penetration dives
5. Have certified 10 students in SDI Wreck Diver or equivalent. Please note that cavern diver certifications do not count towards this prerequisite at the instructor level
